Fatemah's Urgent Clothing Shipment to Saudi Arabia: How We Overcame Delays Due to Heat Restrictions
When I first started working with Fatemah, she told me she runs a high-end clothing business in Saudi Arabia and regularly sources her stock from Guangzhou. She focuses on trendy clothing, so timing is crucial for her orders because fashion is seasonal. Fatemah specifically requested a direct airfreight option to Dammam International Airport, as speed was her top priority. If there were any delays, her customers wouldn't be happy. I assured her that for Sunny Worldwide Logistics, a freight forwarder China to Saudi Arabia with 26 years of experience, this would be no problem.
After understanding her requirements for timing, the type of goods, and the destination, I began crafting a suitable plan. Since we offer door-to-door services, I didn't just focus on airfreight speed but also made sure the local courier service in Saudi Arabia could meet the delivery deadlines. Every step had to be thoroughly planned, as any oversight could cause delays.
Fatemah's shipments always left from Guangzhou, so we initially considered direct flights from major airlines like China Southern Airlines and Air China. We even thought about using Sichuan Airlines, which could fly from Sichuan after transporting the cargo domestically from Guangzhou. Other cities like Xiamen and Haikou also came to mind—Haikou has recently opened more international routes and, as a duty-free zone, it's becoming a hub for cargo transfers. We also looked into Shanghai, Zhengzhou, and Changsha. As a professional freight forwarder China to Saudi Arabia, we always plan for multiple backup options in case of unexpected issues.
Since we're members of several prestigious logistics associations, like the World Cargo Alliance (WCA), where we hold senior membership (ID 87909), we have access to trusted partners worldwide. These associations help us connect with high-quality freight agents for transfers, which is critical for any freight forwarder China to Saudi Arabia. These aren't just any associations—you have to meet strict qualifications to join.
As we continued shipping for Fatemah, various challenges came up. One summer, during a period of extreme heat, Fatemah had a particularly urgent shipment that needed to reach Dammam International Airport as quickly as possible. However, due to the high temperatures, there were weight restrictions on flights.
Airlines often overbook cargo—if a plane can carry 40 tons, they might accept 45 or even 55 tons, just in case some shipments get canceled. In cooler months, this isn't usually an issue, but during summer, weight limits are strictly enforced. If an airline overbooks by 15 tons across three flights in a week, they might end up with a 15-ton backlog.
Unfortunately, Fatemah's shipment was delayed due to these restrictions. She called me right away, saying, “If this doesn't arrive in Saudi Arabia on time, you'll be the one I come after!”
I knew how stressed she was, so I immediately flagged her order as urgent and followed up with the airline. I contacted the person in charge of the CA flight, pushing hard to ensure the shipment got on the next available plane. I also kept backup plans ready, just in case. But the news wasn't great—many flights were facing similar issues due to the heat.
I explained the situation to the airline, emphasizing that this was a critical order for a long-term client. We had shipped so much cargo with them before, and I asked them to prioritize us this time. The representative assured me they would do their best and promised to get back to me by the end of the day.
Finally, at 5 p.m., I got the confirmation: after thorough discussions, they agreed to prioritize our shipment, guaranteeing that it would be on one of the next two flights. I immediately informed Fatemah, letting her know that we would do everything to get the cargo out within two flights.
After constant follow-ups with the airline and checking the cargo status daily, the shipment successfully left on the second flight!
In fact, industry giants like Huawei, Costco, and SF Express, along with over 100 other major companies, have relied on our services for years. In over 20 years of operation, we have a 99% on-time rate—only extreme circumstances like natural disasters cause delays.
When I shared the good news with Fatemah, she was thrilled. She said, “I had prepared myself to renegotiate with my clients, thinking it was impossible. But your persistence made it happen. I'm truly touched by your dedication—you're definitely the most reliable freight forwarder China to Saudi Arabia!”
