Shipping to Barbados: Alexander Chose Us Because We Have Our Own Warehouse In August, I received an inquiry from Alexander, a customer in Barbados. He had five different suppliers in China, each with varying production timelines, so he needed warehousing services. The plan was to consolidate all five shipments, load them into a container, and ship them to Bridgetown, the main port in Barbados. We have our own dedicated foreign trade warehouse at Yantian Port. For international clients looking for a reliable logistics company Shipping to Barbados, one key factor is whether the company has its own warehouse. This ensures that the entire logistics process is under control, guaranteeing timeliness and high-quality management. In Shenzhen, among 60,000 freight forwarding companies, only three have this level of capability. Alexander's shipments mainly consisted of bathroom supplies like water heaters, hot water tanks, building materials, and accessories. He provided me with the suppliers' contacts and general cargo data, but I needed to consolidate this information and calculate the best shipping solution and quote. After finalizing the details, Alexander's cargo totaled only 7 cubic meters. Bridgetown is a relatively busy port, so I compared the costs of Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container Load (LCL) shipping. Surprisingly, LCL would have been more expensive, so I recommended using a 20-foot container for his shipment. After comparing several freight forwarders, Alexander decided to go with us, largely because we have our own dedicated warehouse. The five suppliers were from different locations, so I coordinated with them to collect their goods at our Yantian warehouse and then arranged for them to be loaded into a 20-foot container for shipment to Bridgetown. One of the shipments from Foshan included toilets, which are fragile items, and they were packed in a solid wood frame. However, I noticed that the wood frame had not been fumigated. Such packaging must be fumigated and inspected before it can clear customs in Barbados. I immediately contacted the supplier and found out that the wood frame was used based on Alexander's request. I then discussed this issue with Alexander, suggesting that he switch to pallet packaging, which would be cheaper than fumigation and just as safe. The total volume of the goods was 7 cubic meters, while a 20-foot container can hold up to 28 cubic meters. The excess space could cause the goods to shift during transit, potentially damaging fragile items. To prevent this, I arranged for additional securing of the cargo inside the container. Our warehouse has extensive experience in this area and is very skilled in cargo securing. These details, like changing the packaging and securing the cargo, might seem small, but neglecting them can lead to serious problems. We've been in international shipping for over 20 years, and many of our operators have 7-8 years of experience. International shipping is complex, involving coordination with shipping companies, customs, quarantine, and various other departments, each with their own rules. Plus, we deal with clients from different cultural backgrounds. In this industry, experience is everything—one small mistake can turn into a costly lesson. I consolidated the packing lists and invoices from all five suppliers into one set of documents, helped Alexander with the export customs declaration, and handled the certificates of origin to assist with customs clearance. Finally, the goods arrived in Barbados smoothly. We have our own dedicated foreign trade warehouse at Yantian Port, making us one of only three companies in Shenzhen with this capability. We also own a 1,800-square-meter Grade A office and operate our own fleet of trucks, a rare feature in our industry. Feel free to contact me if you need any assistance.
